Clean Water

I just spent the morning, changing our water filters. (If I may say so: One of my least favourite chores!)

- There is a whole-house filter in the garage, and an under-sink kitchen filter. The latter one is for our drinking water, as it removes just about everything to leave just pure H2O. Once it has run through the reverse-osmosis system, it gets re-mineralised and is delicious and safe to drink.

Once you had one of these, - you’ll be spoiled for water! I can’t even drink the ‘table water’ they serve in restaurants, anymore. It spoils my whole meal, to smell and taste that ‘pool water’, as I call it. Even our children cringe, which is brilliant!

The photo shows the whole-house filter. It consists of a fibrous pre-filter (right), and a carbon filter (left). This system removes chlorine and most impurities. I placed a new cartridge next to the used ones, to show the difference.

Isn’t it shocking, how dirty the filters are after just one year - supposedly filtering already clean tap water?! As the carbon filtration is really happening on the microscopic level, we can’t even see the whole extent of it.

I certainly would not want all that gunk in our digestive systems and blood vessels!

Our body is 70% water, it is a bit like a sponge. We don’t want to soak up the gunk with the water, we need just pure, pristine water for our precious bodies.

Water is the ‘solvent of life’. We need it to be pure, so it can take any toxins and pathogens away from our cells. We can’t have a bath in dirty water, or mop the floor with dirty water: It does not work too well!

If you feel encouraged to install such filters, - I have links in my book, but they are also easy to search for, online.

Of course, the filter companies are happy to come to your home and do all the work for you. You’ll even get a reminder, when a service is due.

On a related note, having such high quality water on tap will eliminate the need to buy water in plastic bottles, which are not just bad for the environment (in production, transport, and disposal), but also contain softeners, etc. BPA is of course not being used, but the substitutes are just as bad (I read). A stainless steel or glass bottle last forever and is chemically inert. Use it only for water, not juice or tea and it will remain pristine.

There are filtration solutions for renters, as well. Just talk to the specialists in the filter shop.
