Time Out

Do you have a space in your home that allows you to stop, rest, empty your head, let go of all that? Do you have a retreat?

Following on from my last post, I have been reflecting on time-outs. It can be really difficult to take a rest at home, where we are surrounded by routines, chores, jobs, projects, family, - it sometimes seems that there is no end. Sooo much maintenance and - if there’s energy left - creating, to do.

Do you have a space in your home that allows you to stop, rest, empty your head, let go of all that? Do you have a retreat? Let me tell you that this is of great importance. Even a corner that is just for you, a chair, a seat in the garden, any place where you go to take time-out.

Note, that time-out is not achieved by scrolling on social media. It’s just for you.

I remember a client, who ran the family, the household, and also worked from home. The home was impeccable and everyone was looked after, but she was stressed and anxious and not all that happy with her life, it seemed.

Her room was different to the rest of the home. It was stacked with boxes, full of stuff that she had taken from the house to sort out. We could barely get through, and she was most apologetic about her room. She’d sort it all out, one day, she said.

To me, it symbolised how she took care of everything else but herself. She had taken on everyone’s ‘stuff’ - and it was burdening her down and suffocating her.

Once I had tested for mould and EMR, I explained about Feng Shui and how they believe that the state of our environment is actually inside of us. If we change the environment, we change ourselves.

I suggested to her to treat her room as a living thing and to work through the boxes like a healing, to release the chi energy. - Rent a storage space for things that are too difficult to part with or might still be needed, but - get it all out of YOUR space. Let it go, free yourself from it.

It took a while, but she persisted and as they say - she never looked back. Friends and family commented on her being happier and healthier, life began to flow her way again. She had repaired her inner space, while creating her time-out.

In return, her regenerated retreat-space now supported her more relaxed an in-tune state of being.

The centre of the maze

Take it easy, slow down a bit. Your home is your temple and your castle.

Life is beautiful in slow motion. As a person, who runs (‘runs’….) a tight ship, I’m always organised, focussed, following plans and to-do lists. This is very efficient, but if I don’t force myself to stop and come to rest to experience the moment that I am actually living, - I’ll loose myself in the maze of life.

I don’t know about you, but I stop anywhere and everywhere to rest, even for a few seconds. However, the place that is best made for a moment of regeneration and re-energising is our home. It’s the centre of our maze. My dear friend Meredith Gaston wrote a beautiful newsletter about life in their home and sanctuary, that I really would like to share with you. - If you enjoy it, subscribe to her newsletters, or read her inspirational books. Her latest one ‘Slow - experiencing the joy of a slower, simpler life’ is available, now. For people like myself, it provides a very much needed reminder to slow down and smell the roses.

Take a moment to enjoy - https://mailchi.mp/8ce495288b1f/welcome-to-our-fourth-edition?e=ed059f2e08

Healthy House Australia

Do you buy organic food? Sustainably resourced timber? Free range eggs? Electrical equipment, that has been tested to Australian Standards? - In all such cases, we rely on a registered quality approval process, that defines ‘organic’ , ‘sustainable’, or ‘safe’.

The Healthy House Australia label has been created to give certainty to home owners, purchasers, or builders that a home is free from toxins, mould, and pollutants. Such homes support health and wellbeing. - We want to blossom in our homes, - not wilt!

Certification is an easy process, conducted by a qualified Buildingbiologist.

Some clients are already confident that they have taken all the right steps, - they just want to have that acknowledged by an official label, so the property can reflect the health-aspects it offers to potential buyers in increased value.

The cerrtification is based on the Buildingbiological Standard from the Institute for Buildingbiology and Ecology, in Germany. They are the world-leading institute for healthy and sustainable building.

To register for the Healthy House Australia certification, or if you have any questions about it, -simply contact a qualified Buildingbiologist or email me, directly.

Mite-time

The most prevalent mite living in our homes is the dust mite. There also can be bed-bugs and fleas, inhabiting our lovely plush carpets.

While driving home from a humid and hot Sydney day, I decided to post a reminder, that most of these little suckers like it warm and moist. In other words- this is the time to keep an eye on them. They reproduce FAST.

What can you do?

The most prevalent mite living in our homes is the dust mite. There also can be bed-bugs and fleas, inhabiting our lovely plush carpets.

While driving home from a humid and hot Sydney day, I decided to post a reminder, that most of these little suckers like it warm and humid. In other words- this is the time to keep an eye on them. They reproduce FAST.

What can you do?

  • Change your climate to dry and cooler, using your aironditioning or a dehumidifier. The breeding range can be seen on the diagram, it starts to increase, when it is over 20 degrees ad 60% humidity.

  • Regularly use a strong, corded, and ideally bagged vacuum cleaner, that gets into all the corners and fibers.

  • If you still have ongoing problems, replace your woollen carpet with a synthetic carpet or solid flooring.

BTW - if you want to check your dust, get yourself a decent magnifying glass and look at a dust-ball. If you have dust mites, you’ll see it crawling. Don’t scream too loudly…. it looks really disgusting.

More on the topic of pest can be found in my book, Health at Home, available on my website, Amazon, etc.

Checking Up

After a round of check-up visits to existing clients, I’d like to share a few quick insights.

I just completed a round of check-up visits to a number of clients, who were keen to find out how their improvements succeeded.

On my way home, I wrote a long blog post in my head, - and I shall try to type it all down, now.

First of all, - thank you to my clients, it is always wonderful to be invited to help you in your endeavours of making your home healthy and safe.

Secondly, - mould is still an issue. Surprising, after a number of dry months. It is important to be vigilant, and to re-test after a while.

Thirdly, - Electro-pollution is ever increasing. I noticed that a few clients with sleeping issues had extremely high levels of electric fields from the wiring in their home. This needs to be addressed, and any solutions implemented must be verified in their effectiveness.

Fourth, - Indoor air quality -IAQ- seems to concern more and more clients. You can choose to do a lab test to give you certainty, or purchase a monitor for your home. (see website for both, the uHoo is on Black-Friday Special)

Finally, - things in your living space change…. it’s essential to keep an eye out. Just like the car needs servicing, and you need dental check-ups, your home also needs regular check-ups! As you know, I am just one call or email away, always happy to help. Let’s get this right.

EMF solutions

Keep yourself safe from electropollution, EMF and EMR. Instruments from Gigahertz Solutions.

As I am travelling Europe, - how could I not visit the world leading supplier of EMF and EMR measuring instruments, Gigahertz Solutions? It was my privilege to meet the staff, who are making all this happen: The genius designer, the production team, the quality testing team, the distribution and packaging teams, - and of course the management. Gigahertz are a traditional German ‘small’ business, who are uncompromisingly committed to deliver quality solutions. I admire that greatly.

I wish I could share, how thoroughly all instruments get calibrated and tested. Might I add, that they truely are Made in Germany, not in a cheap-labour-questionable-quality country. Gigahertz insist on controlling the production of every element of their instruments.

I even was able to lay my eyes on their latest creation, an intrument that measures HF (high frequency) electro-pollution, including 5G. In the past, we had to use two separate instruments for this; now we can do it with just one machine, saving resources, money and - making it even easier to do.

Buildingbiologists all over the world will love this, but - the new HF 49 can easily be used by lay-people, as well. In a world that is saturated with electromagnetic radiation, it is becoming more and more important to quantify one’s exposure to this invisible radiation. The vast majority of my clients are shocked to see that their home or workplace has exposure readings in the Extreme range of the Buildingbiological Measuring Standard.

Solutions, like shielding, are the next step to insure our own and our families’ safety in an ever growing hum of wifi, bluetooth, 5G, DECT, radar, radio, TV, etc etc.

See Gigahertz Solutions information page for more details https://gigahertz-solutions.com/Electrosmog-Info and my own page for instruments https://buildingbiologyservices.com/measuring-instruments

Space Clearing

You will have noticed that some places feel more inviting to you, while others feel strange, cold, creepy, impersonal. You feel safe, -you relax and open up. You feel uneasy, you stay alert. We are all unconsciously sensing our environment, all the time.

The emotional imprints we perceive can be helpful, or distracting. - Problem is that we get so used to our home, that we don’t recognise the patterns that hold us back.

The emotional imprints we perceive can be helpful, or distracting. - Problem is that we get so used to our home, that we don’t recognise the patterns that hold us back.

When it comes to our home or workplace, the emotional imprints that are holding us back from creating our best future for ourselves can be cleared, and it is a most rewarding and beautiful thing to do.

Throughout history and in all cultures and religions I've known, people have had space clearing techniques and rituals. I came across this for the first time when I met Karen Kingston, a well-known Feng Shui specialist and space clearer.

She published Creating Sacred Spaces with Feng Shui about the ritual she had created, and it works magically well! After a space clearing, the energy of a place can be transformed and feel free and reborn.

Some people make sure that their homes get cleared once a year, others do it less frequently. I would certainly recommend you do it when moving into a new home, or when you get that itchy feeling that something needs to change.

Sure, move your furniture, put on a lick of paint - but adding a space clearing ritual is the icing on the cake!
On a smaller scale, your home can be cleared every day by opening the windows, burning quality essential oils, keeping things clean and tidy - and by being kind and attentive towards your space and each other. Don't underestimate the value of that.

Keep in mind that your home remembers what's happened there in an emotional sense. Consider being more gentle to yourself and others, to create a soft, open and loving space.

Always remember that your home is an extension and a reflection of yourself. It is often easier to clear the home, than clearing up the mess in our souls. However, clearing the home will directly impact on your soul: Give it a try!

A consecration ceremony is also a beautiful ritual when you move into a new home. Most space clearers will be able to help you with that. I've had the honour of conducting quite a few, and it's always been a deep, intimate and powerful experience.

Don’t be over-whelmed

I feel for my clients, when I give them my report after the consultation and it comes with a list of things that need to be addressed, to make the home healthy.

Use it as an opportunity for growth. You know the problem, you can deal with the solution, one step at the time.

I feel for my clients, when I give them my report after the consultation and it comes with a list of things that need to be addressed, to make the home healthy.

Considering, that the client’s energy levels often are not great to begin with, I might be asking for a lot and the client feels overwhelmed. - Sounds familiar?

use your force!

Don’t be overwhelmed by the PROBLEM

Why not? Because you are one step ahead of it! We made an assessment of the problem and identified the issues, so you know what you are dealing with.

As the famous philosopher Yoda Yada once said: We only fear what we don’t know. Now, we know!

Don’t be overwhelmed by the SOLUTION

Why not? Because we have broken it down into bits that you can address, one by one.

Print out my action-list and tick off every item you completed. Never mind the sequence, don’t over-think, just pick one… and then another…. Be realistic about your abilities to DIY and find a trade, if need be.

As the famous other philosopher Panda Panda once said: Make sure to reward yourself for each step you take! Your power to take charge of your health grows exponentially stronger with each step.

Observe your energy levels, and you will find that you gain energy, by working your way down the list. This is because your home environment improves, but it also comes from growing stronger by your actions.

The Force will be with you! :-)
