Mite-time
The most prevalent mite living in our homes is the dust mite. There also can be bed-bugs and fleas, inhabiting our lovely plush carpets.
While driving home from a humid and hot Sydney day, I decided to post a reminder, that most of these little suckers like it warm and humid. In other words- this is the time to keep an eye on them. They reproduce FAST.
What can you do?
Change your climate to dry and cooler, using your aironditioning or a dehumidifier. The breeding range can be seen on the diagram, it starts to increase, when it is over 20 degrees ad 60% humidity.
Regularly use a strong, corded, and ideally bagged vacuum cleaner, that gets into all the corners and fibers.
If you still have ongoing problems, replace your woollen carpet with a synthetic carpet or solid flooring.
BTW - if you want to check your dust, get yourself a decent magnifying glass and look at a dust-ball. If you have dust mites, you’ll see it crawling. Don’t scream too loudly…. it looks really disgusting.
More on the topic of pest can be found in my book, Health at Home, available on my website, Amazon, etc.
